Sustainable Community Planning and Development

Infrastructure Canada has an important role to play in the promotion of sustainable community development in Canada, both by virtue of its mandate and the programs that it delivers.

While Integrated Community Sustainability Plans (ICSPs) are currently only required within the context of Gas Tax Fund (GTF) Agreements, the basic principles and benefits of sustainable planning are applicable beyond the GTF scope to other infrastructure programs and to initiatives being carried out by other federal departments and agencies.
